Psychology

Mental health and behaviour support, properly delivered.

Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support work best when they begin with the same question:

what is really going on for this person?

Neta Care provides evidence-based therapy and NDIS-registered Behaviour Support for

individuals, families, children, adolescents, and adults. Our clinicians support mental health,

trauma, psychosocial recovery, emotional regulation, behaviours of concern, and the

systems around a person’s everyday life.

One service pathway. Two connected supports.

Mental health and behaviour often affect each other. Our psychologists and Behaviour Support Practitioners work with the person, their family, carers, support coordinators, teachers, and support teams to understand their needs and build practical strategies that improve quality of life.

What's Included

Support for the person, not just the presentation.

We look beyond symptoms or behaviours and focus on the person’s full experience.

Our team can support people experiencing:

• Anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, and major life transitions

• Psychosocial disability and recovery needs

• Emotional regulation challenges

• Behaviours of concern

• Family stress or relationship strain

• Communication, sensory, medical, environmental, or social factors that may influence behaviour

• Restrictive practices that need to be reduced or eliminated over time

• Support team challenges where carers, family members, or workers need practical guidance

Therapy may be short-term or longer-term depending on the person’s goals, needs, and circumstances.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Common questions.

Do I need a GP referral?

For Medicare-rebated sessions yes, you need a Mental Health Treatment Plan. For NDIS, DVA or private sessions no referral is required.

Can someone receive both Psychology and Behaviour Support?

Yes. Some people benefit from therapy for mental health and emotional wellbeing while also needing Behaviour Support for practical strategies, support team coaching, restrictive practice reduction, or NDIS behaviour planning.

Is Behaviour Support the same as therapy?

No. Psychology usually focuses on therapy, mental health treatment, emotional wellbeing, and recovery.

Behaviour Support focuses on understanding behaviours of concern, creating practical support strategies, improving quality of life, coaching support teams, and reducing restrictive practices.

Both services can work together when appropriate.

How long is a typical course of therapy?

It depends on the person’s needs. Short-term work can be 6 to 10 sessions. Longer-term therapy can run for many months.

Psychology may be short-term or longer-term depending on the person’s goals and treatment needs.

Behaviour Support usually involves assessment, planning, implementation, coaching, and review over time.

Who is involved in the process?

This depends on the person’s situation and consent.

Support may involve the person, family members, carers, support coordinators, teachers, support workers, allied health professionals, GPs, or other members of the person’s care team.
