Specialist Services / Social Work
Social work
Practical help for the
parts of life that don't
fit on a clinical note.
Our qualified social workers help participants and families navigate complex personal, family and system circumstances. Psychosocial assessment, advocacy, family support, and connection to community resources.
About the service
What a social worker actually does.
Social work sits at the intersection of personal wellbeing and the systems people have to navigate. When a participant is dealing with overlapping pressures, family stress, housing uncertainty, financial strain, grief, mental health symptoms, or system overwhelm, a social worker is often the right person to help untangle what's actually going on and where to go next.
At Neta Care, our social workers work alongside other allied health professionals and support coordinators to make sure no part of a participant's life is being neglected because nobody else has the right training to address it.
Social work is the practical end of holistic care. We start with the person, not the system.

What we help with
Level 3: Specialist Support Coordination
For participants with complex needs, risks, or barriers, Specialist Support Coordination provides a higher level of support to help stabilise situations, coordinate services, resolve system challenges, and keep supports working safely.
This may be suitable when a participant is experiencing housing issues, family conflict, health concerns, justice or child protection involvement, crisis situations, or difficulty maintaining essential supports.
How It Works
From referral to ongoing support.
1
Initial conversation
A no-obligation chat to understand what's happening and what kind of support might help. No paperwork required at this stage.
2
Assessment
If we proceed, the first one or two sessions are dedicated to understanding the full picture, including strengths, concerns and goals.
3
Plan and act
We agree on a plan together. Sessions might involve direct support, advocacy work between sessions, family meetings, or coordination with other professionals.
4
Review and adjust
Regular reviews to see what's working and what isn't. Social work is about real-world outcomes, not session counts.
Funding
How social work is funded.
NDIS: Social work is typically funded under Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living) or Core Supports, depending on the participant's plan. Our team can help you understand how it fits within your existing plan.
DVA: Veterans with a Gold Card or relevant White Card entitlement can access social work through their DVA-funded supports.
Medicare (Better Access): Eligible participants can access mental health social work through a GP-issued Mental Health Care Plan.
NIISQ: For participants with serious injury under the NIISQ scheme.
Private fee-for-service: Available for participants without funding or who prefer to self-fund.
